Poems

Having lived on a farm most of her life, my Grandmother Deutschendorf planted and tended a sizable garden each year. She routinely canned much of what she grew for use in the winter months.

My Grandmother's Garden

My grandmother
in her garden
raked and hoed and tilled.

And every seed
she planted well
was tended so to yield,

at harvest time,
a bounty full
of good things from the soil.

A testament
to faith and skill
and sun and rain and toil.
